Honoring Afterschool Program Chess Instructor - Mr Austin

Dear PSL Chess Family,

On behalf of the Aldridge family and Austin family, I want to update you on events that took place this weekend.  This past weekend Kenneth, our PSL Chess Instructor, suffered a heart attack that he did not survive.   At this time Mrs. Austin is tending to family and the home going services of Mr. Austin, and after school chess is cancelled until further notice from Mrs. Austin.

Mrs. and Mr. Austin are parents of a Sigler student and communication has been sent from  Mr. Arend (Principal of Sigler).  We know that this is a tough time for the Austin family as well as your families.  As an Aldridge family, we want to extend our counseling services for each student that may need a moment away from the classroom at any time.  Testing season is upon us, and because of this, we want to respect the homes and allow you as a family to disclose this information to your child/ren should you desire.

Mrs. Austin has informed Mr. Arend that her goal is to have Chess up and running next week, but I ask that you wait to hear directly from her for any updates.  Here is a  link that has been provided to us if you’d like to send your condolences or support.

Please let us know how we may be of service.  We have prepared our staff to keep extra eyes and ears on our students during this week.
